Commissioned bird bath

Well folks, I've been so busy creating stones for customers that I've fallen behind on blogging. I'm sorry about that, but you should see the most recent commission I've been working on!

The piece is a bird bath, a unique creation resulting from the collaboration between myself, the customer, and Deb Harkness, a skilled blacksmith. I started with two raw stones, carving them into round shapes, each 3 inches thick. After many hours of carving and polishing, I hollowed out and polished the bird bath to hold water.

Deb Harkness designed cattail reeds to attach to the polished round base and crafted a centerpiece with branches to support the bird bath. This project has been time-consuming for both of us, but the result is outstanding. I hope to have pictures on the website in a few days for everyone to see.
